Naylor2006
Quick bit of info about the car as it was when I collected it. 2.0l Mondeo conversion with refurbed injectors.RS2000 Rear Beam with discs300mm Front Disks with massive callipers.Gmax shocks and 40mm springs.Clifford Alarm system, remote locking and windows and all the other cool stuff it comes with.Genuine Cosworth AlloysK&N InductionMagnex cat backLeather seats and GTI Trim Im sure theres alot more but those I think cover the main mods. So first things first, get some money and look at it for a bit, Ive never actually seen this much cash in my whole life and oddly enough wasnt that attached to it! http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0149.JPG The first thing I had to do was swap the Toyo's from my car over as the ones on were in need of replacement and I had a set of 4 in good shape. Unfortunately no where was open so it was off to Quik Fit. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0150.JPG Had her tracked... http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0152.JPG This pic I think opens up some interesting discussion, if you lower a car enough you dont need body mods http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0154.JPG Quick check underneath, beam looks sweet and a clean line underneath http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0155.JPG Shock horror! Ross didnt have chrome indicator bulbs, well lets deal with that! http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0157.JPG http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0158.JPG Anyways so new rubber on.... http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0161.JPG Back to Mum and Dads cause they have a big drive and I dont.... http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0162.JPG I was supposed to start sorting out the audio setup now however it was 6pm and I got back from Ross' the night before at 3am after already working the last 7 days and was totally knackered and when my mate text to say we were all getting p**sed at a mates house I didnt take much convincing, I needed a rest + it was only round the corner. Rang the Mrs, said I wasnt coming home and off I went. Next day then....(Sunday) Went to Halfords to get a new Ford stereo surround thing and the special removal keys for the stock unit as Ross has been kind enough to refit it so I had something to listen to on the way home. So on with the stereo install. I convinced Ross with a few tenners to leave his audio wiring in as the amp power from the battery is so much fun to fit (not!). So he left the quick release in for me which had remote wire, earth and power, all I had to do was run the RCA and hook it all up. Hero! http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0163.JPG Old unit out.. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0164.JPG Then my unit out, this head unit is 3-4 years old now and never let me down so I wrote down all my settings and out it came. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0165.JPG http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0166.JPG Wiring adapters removed and then fitted to new Escort. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0168.JPG Time to run the RCA....removal first. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0169.JPG http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0170.JPG Next few pics are of my fitting it in... http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0173.JPG http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0174.JPG http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0175.JPG http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0176.JPG Time to get the old sub and amp out.... http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0177.JPG Sub fitted to new car, its sitting on foam at the moment as I had no money to dynomat which will be happen as part of the 'progress' http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0180.JPG I had an idea not to long ago to run two hidden wires in the dash for my iphone, I use it as sat nav and for all my beats so I have a stupid sucker mount on the right hand side of the steering wheel for it, but I have to have a 3.5mm and USB charger hanging about when its in use and I wanted to hide these. I had an idea and wanted to test it out so this isnt the finished product yet. Ross said there was a gap at the screen I could utilise to I did. First thing was to get a tiny USB charger adapter for my cigarette lighter so I would be able to close the drawer still even with a cable plugged in. Sorry about the pic. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0181.JPG So flush enough for me, time to take the dash trim off, done this about a million times now so it wasnt the usual swearing and fit banging as it was before. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0182.JPG If you look you can see im also running the aux in 3.5mm as well. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0183.JPG Here is hooked up on the other side of the dials to the right angle connector that will actually connect to the phone. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0184.JPG Time to run the usb charger, the white stock one was the only one I had for the time being. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0185.JPG Over the top of the dials.... http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0186.JPG And into the extension..... http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0187.JPG Then connected up to the usb adapter, the drawer does close http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0188.JPG For some reason I cant post the rest of my pics!!!!! Pretty frustrating! ... Edited October 8, 2012 by Naylor2006
Naylor2006
Removed and fitted my alpine 5x7 rears.... http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0191.JPG Ran out of time to cover them up properly so just got them in. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0197.JPG Just a pic of the work area. http://www.dontcallmeshirley.eclipse.co.uk/phils/phils_pics/mynewcar/IMG_0192.JPG So there you have it, Saturday and Sunday done and the car feels more like mine now, I wont ever forget the hard work the has gone into it already to give me such a base from from launch off. My future planes are first and foremost to keep her clean and running well, im into escorts for the long haul so will plan a full engine rebuild next year im sure, maybe sooner if I get bored. Also I wanna dress up the eingine bay to get that 'show' look, calipers need painting, rocker cover....cosmetics really firstly. I did finish the day by cleaning the car in pitch black but both cars are currently at my mates whos going to swap the exhausts over, I would like to keep the mongoose from my old car as this way some of the soul comes with me I feel, Ive spent thousands over the years on it and would like to bring it with me. Just shows how simple well thought out classy mods can all add up to a cracking car! Thanks man, previous owner has gotto take the majority of the credit! I agree, taking time to plan mods and thinking about them first always makes for better results. The first rims I put on my escort when I first bought it were the most ugly shocking things ever, add that to the fact it wasn't lowered and omg....Since then I vowed to do things properly. Hope the thread is loading a little quicker for people now. Edited March 8, 2012 by Naylor2006

I thought it for pretty cool tbf.... Just noticed you said passenger window, are you serial? Break free from its mount or take it with it, then break free from the 3.5mm jack as well as the charger, race accross the other side of the dash then flick up off the bit above the glove compartment and finally out the window? Surely not?
