Is there a difference between the 1600 box to the 1800 box i.e ratio's etc.

Also out of curiosity would the BC box from a Series 2 rs turbo fit a zetec engine ?,

i know you can fit the diff to the ib5 but i might aswell ask.

thanks dan

1600 has shorter gears than the 1800.

That's not entirely true. It depends on the spec level and type of Escort, eg hatch, estate. I did publish the ratios some time ago so do a search and you should find.

B5 cars have 3 ratios and 2 final ratios..

(1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & Reverse)

A- 3.58, 2.04, 1.32, 0.95, 0.76, 3.62

B- 3.58, 1.91, 1.28, 0.95, 0.76, 3.62

C- 3.15, 1.91, 1.28, 0.95, 0.76, 3.62

All 1.8's, and the 1.6 hatchback, have 3.82 final ratio but the 1.6 Estate has 4.27.

The iB5 (Mk6) is similar:

A- 3.58, 2.04, 1.32, 0.95, 0.76, 3.62

B- 3.58, 1.93, 1.28, 0.95, 0.76, 3.62

C- 3.15, 1.93, 1.28, 0.95, 0.76, 3.62

Same deal on final (diff) ratios ...

Ratio set A is only used on 1.3/1.4 engines, B is used on 1.6 Escort Hatchbacks only and C is used on 1.6 Estate and 1.8 Hatch/Estates...

MTX75's are a different story..

Ta da!
